FLAME University is the pioneer of liberal education in India, delivering the country’s premier interdisciplinary education experience. Spread on 70 acres of green expanse with aesthetically designed infrastructure, and the campus currently consists of five schools: FLAME School of Design, Art and Performance, FLAME School of Liberal Education, FLAME School of Business, FLAME School of Communication, and FLAME School of Computing and Data Sciences.
FLAME University has been established as a state private university vide the FLAME University Act 2014 (Maharashtra Act No. II of 2015) of the Government of Maharashtra. It is recognized by the University Grants Commission (UGC) under Section 2(f), and Degrees awarded by the university are recognized under Section 22 of the UGC Act, 1956.
Undergraduate Program (Bachelor of Design)
FLAME University offers a 4-year interdisciplinary undergraduate design degree rooted in liberal education and centered around experience design. This interdisciplinary Experience Design major prepares you for a fulfilling career in designing technology-driven human experiences, including digital and interactive interfaces, tangible interfaces, different forms of immersive storytelling, service design, and more. Working collaboratively, you can transform your design skills into creative solutions with a positive long-term impact.
Major offered: Experience Design
Minors offered: Psychology, Entrepreneurship, Business analytics, Marketing, Literary and cultural studies
Minimum Eligibility
The minimum eligibility to apply to FLAME University’s undergraduate program is the following:
- In the case of Higher Secondary School Certificate (or an equivalent qualification) or State Boards, CBSE and CISCE (Council for Indian School Certificate Examinations), the applicant should have passed 12th standard final examination.
- In the case of International Baccalaureate students, a diploma is the minimum requirement. International Baccalaureate certificate / career program (CP) students are not eligible for admission.
- ‘A’ Level certificate is the minimum requirement in the case of Cambridge students (GCE/IGCSE/GCSE examinations of the approved British Examination Bodies), with:

- 5 (Five) subjects in A, B, C Grades including English at Ordinary (‘O’) Level and
- 3 (Three) subjects at Advanced (‘A’) Level.
- In case of High school diploma awarded by an accredited American School/International School in other countries following American System of Education accredited either by the State Departments of Education OR by one of the following Six Regional Accrediting Agencies in USA:

- Applicants who have obtained 10+2 equivalent qualification from a foreign university / board / institution, other than above shall have to submit an equivalence certificate from the Association of Indian Universities, New Delhi along with a transcript of marks (https://www.aiu.ac.in/evaluation.php).
- Candidates currently enrolled/studying in their 12th standard or equivalent class can also apply, provided they can produce their 12th passing certificate / mark sheet before 30th September 2024. Admission of such a candidate shall be strictly provisional till s/he submits a valid proof of passing the 12th or equivalent level examination before the prescribed last date, failing which the admission shall automatically stand withdrawn without any further notice.
- The applicant should be less than 21 years of age as on July 31, 2024.
- FDAT is optional for those who have UCEED/ NIFT/NID scores. We do not specify a cut-off score for UCEED/ NIFT/NID, which would guarantee admission in FLAME, as the UCEED/ NIFT/NID score is only one of the parameters we consider for selection. Needless to say, a high entrance test score improves one’s chances of selection.
Please note that it is your responsibility to check whether you are eligible to apply for the Undergraduate Program at FLAME University as per the eligibility criteria outlined above. FLAME University has full right to disqualify you at any stage of the admission process if found ineligible. In such a case, your admission, even if selected, will stand annulled.
Selection Process
The goal of our assessment process is to select best performing and well-rounded applicants who can contribute and enhance the learning experience at FLAME University. We have an internal assessment process which considers the following aspects of your application:
- Admission Test (FDAT/UCEED/ NIFT/ NID)
- Online Personal Interview
- Past Academic Record
- Extracurricular activities/ achievements
- Statement of Purpose (SOP)
We shortlist candidates based on their overall performance on all the parameters listed above. As an applicant, if you score below average in one of the parameters, but your application is strong in other aspects, chances are you might still get an offer from FLAME University. Obviously, the higher the test score, the better your chances of getting an offer letter. Your chances of selection are brighter if you have a strong academic record, well-articulated SOP, and extracurricular/ professional achievements.

Notes:
** Program fees include charges for mandatory sports courses (first year).
*** Lodging and boarding fees are applicable for the duration of the academic year. Additional stay beyond
the academic year (if permitted) shall be charged extra on a pro-rata basis. There are three types of housing facilities:
- Apartment style twin sharing rooms with common bathroom facilities shared by flat-mates – charges as per the fee schedule
table above. - Apartment style twin sharing rooms with attached bathroom facilities allocated on a first come first serve basis – additional
charges of INR Rs. 80,000 will be charged for the academic year. - Apartment style twin sharing air-conditioned rooms with attached bathroom facilities allocated on a first come first serve
basis – additional charges of INR Rs. 1,20,000 will be charged for the academic year.
*** The lodging and boarding component of the fee structure includes dining charges and laundry charges of up to 40 clothes per month.
**** Other fees include charges for IT services, on-campus medical expenses, counseling, sports, gymnasium, and University bus service
from campus to Pune city (Fergusson College Road) and back.
***** Additionally, a one-time refundable caution money deposit of INR Rs. 75,000 will be charged at the time of admission.
****** Some miscellaneous costs like field trips for experiential learning courses, domestic/local/international immersions, specialization-specific software, stationery, consumables, printing, photocopying, books, study material, sports equipment & consumables, additional credit charges, and alumni charges, etc. are not included in the above-mentioned fees. They will be charged as per prevailing university policy or at actuals.

In keeping with FLAME University’s avowed commitment to promoting academic excellence, and to correspondingly attract the brightest amongst the students seeking admission to undergraduate and postgraduate programs, the University offers an array of merit scholarships and need-based financial support. This is designed to give students an opportunity to further their education at FLAME University. Most prominent amongst these scholarships and support avenues are the full scholarships (full fee waivers) which can be awarded to most outstanding students joining the University.
