NID Studio Test 2025 – DAT Mains

NID Studio Test 2025 workshop will be conducted at Pahal Design all centres across India, or you can join the classes Online and offline both. Online classes will be  conducted from Delhi head office for across India. For Online classes you need to register first and you will get all access of study material of our LMS Portal.

NID DAT Mains : M.Design

The DAT Mains for M.Des. programme consists of two parts:

• Studio Test: This may consist of tests in different formats. The DAT Mains will be conducted in English ONLY.

• Interviews: The interviews will be conducted separately for each discipline, immediately after the Studio Test, and at the, same centre as the Studio Test.

Weightages of DAT Prelims & DAT Mains for Final Result

The final marks of the candidate appearing for the M.Des. programme of the Institute of Design, will be calculated based on the weightages of the marks obtai DAT Prelims and DAT Mains, as under:

DAT Prelims – 30%  DAT Mains – 70%  (Studio Test – 40% & Interviews – 30%)

NID Studio Test can also include a random test which may evaluate candidates on their material handling abilities.

Question asked in such tests may include:

• Make a product from “Best of Waste”
• Other psychometric tests wherein candidates are asked to solve problems by applying “Out of box” thinkingto use.
• Other observation tests wherein aspirants are asked question on culture, heritage or even instances where spot tests are conducted.

NID Studio Test Questions for M.Des – Animation Film Design

1) Psychometric round Doodling (12 frames) – Complete the 12 frames and give a caption 2) Create a flip book – a man climbing the stairs 3) Audio-Visual round – Video clips shown (black and white movies). Based on the clips shown memory based questions were asked.

NID Studio Test Questions for M.Des – Product Design

1) Psychometric round Doodling (12 frames) – Complete the 12 frames and give a caption 2) You have to carve a momento out of a 10X10 cm cube of polyurethane material. The carving must depict the theme “50 years of NID”. It must include NID logo in proportion. 3) Make any one of the following in the proportion you want: The bottle hanging arrangement found in the Indian Railways Wagons. The top door locking mechanism found in the door of wagons Materials provided: Plastic sheet, nails, pins, fevistick 4) Make a wrist-watch out of the following: Paper sheets (coloured), transparent plastic sheets, aluminium sheet, wire. The latching arrangements must work and all the features must be shown: Dial, Minute and Hour Hand, Time setting knob.

Q-1 Draw a headphone changing following features in your design:

Q-3 Draw a dynamic logo for a mobile phone Company.

Q-1 Write a dialogue b/w you and your fren formulating your argument on Three Farm laws.
Q-2 Depict a scene visually through words of a student stuck in traffic at a junction while getting late for the exam.
Q-3 Write a story on a person stuck in the house alone in lockdown, and how insecurities/fears are rising.
