Admission Process for UG and PG Courses:

Step 3 – Appear for Design Aptitude Test (DAT) on 26th Jan 2020.
Step 4 – Shortlisted students will be called for Studio Test and Portfolio Evaluation

Eligibility Criteria

What are the eligibility criteria for programmes at the institute?

For B.Design:

• Admission into an undergraduate programme at UID requires successful completion of minimum 10+2 pass/appearing (Any Stream), with minimum 50% aggregate score from any recognized higher secondary schoolboard.
• Clearance and merit of Design Aptitude Test (Tier 1 & 2) for admission.

For M.Design:

• Admission into a postgraduate programme at UID requires successful completion of10+2+3/4
• Pass/appearing (Bachelor’s degree of any discipline) with minimum 50% aggregate score from any recognized institution or university.
• Clearance and merit of Design Aptitude Test (Tier 1 & 2) for admission.

No, UID does not provide any reservation in seats for any category.

UID provides separate hostels for boy and girls. UID hostels are well-known for its homely & affable environment, hygienic food, high-speed internet connectivity, and 24*7 security systems with CCTV cameras.

• 10 Lac sq. ft.lush green Campus at Gandhinagar

• A.C. Bus transport facility for students
• More than 25 fully-equipped and highly sophisticated workshops and labs with cutting edge machinery.
• The workshops accommodate high tech equipments like 3D Printing machines, advanced Laser cutting equipment and casting apparatus, Physical 3D Sculpting Lab equipped with high precision German and Japanese tools, Mechatronic Lab, Digital Lab equipped with Cintiq Pro and workstations.
• UID campus has Karnavati Incubation and Innovation Foundation (KIIF) is a design business incubator that works on an amalgamation of design, technology and business principles

UID’s learning model has been curated by blending new experiences within our learning environment. Our priority is to engage the students through a dynamic module which holistically explores their potential. This model provides an environment for interactive student engagement and enhances their ability to ideate. The knowledge and experience gained with UID’s learning model is entirely applicable to other disciplines as well.

Are there any scholarships and student loans available?

UID does not provide any scholarship as of now.
UID doesn’t have collaboration with any Bank to provide Educational Loan. However we shall provide you the supporting documents required by the bank you prefer.

UID ENTRANCE 2020

APPLICATION & EXAM GUIDANCE PROCESS

Application at UID is a three-step process as follows;
STEP 1 – Filling up of UID Application form for Admissions AY2020 – 21.
STEP 2 – Tier 1: UID DAT (Design Aptitude Test)
STEP 3 –Tier 2: Situation Test (ST) – Portfolio Evaluation (PE)

At UID, we follow a 2-tier evaluation process for admission into any of our B. Design or M. Design degree.

Tier 1 is UID’s DAT (Design Aptitude Test) – A 3 hour written entrance exam conducted PAN India, scheduled on 26th of January 2020 across 25 cities in the country.
A design aspirant can choose exam Centre one as per his/her convenience.

Examination Pattern

The candidates who get shortlisted in Tier 1 exam then qualify for Tier 2, i.e. Situation Test & Portfolio Evaluation in the month of April. It is a 2 days process conducted at Karnavati University Campus, Uvarsad, Gandhinagar.

Guidelines for DAT Exam

DAT exam consists of two parts

For UG- B. Design Program

PART A (40 marks – 30 questions) and

PART B (60 marks – 06 questions)

For PG- M. Design Program

PART A (50 marks – 26 questions) and

Part – B(50 marks – 04 questions)

Whole DAT paper is being prepared keeping in mind the following skill sets and aptitudes;

• For MCQ;

General awareness (Art & Design) & Reasoning

• For Descriptive questions; Hand skills
• Observation Skills Comprehension Quantitative Ability
• Creative thought process and Analytical Abilities

Some General Instructions:

All questions are compulsory.
Use of stationery: Use Ball Pen (Blue Ink), Pencils (B, 2B, 4B, 8B), colour pencil set & eraser only.
Maximum Duration for the completion of the test is 180 minutes (3hrs.).

Guideline for Situation test:

Situation test include the assessment of following skill sets and aptitudes;

• Creative Thought process
• Critical thinking
• Material handling
• Conceptual thinking and
• Logical interpretation

For Situation Test – Student must carry enthusiasm, loads of stocked creative practices and techniques, understanding of time management, concept generation and communication skills. Apart from this pen, pencil, eraser, scissors, colour pens.

For Portfolio – Student must carry any creative work that they have compiled or created or have practised and improvised/ refined in the last 10 years in documented or non- documented (any format). Models and prototypes are also appreciated.

We do not consider any other exam’s score.
