Admission Procedure

Stage 1: Registration for DAT (Design Aptitude Test)

Step 1: Register for DAT
Step 2: An automated verification link will be sent to your registered email ID. Activate your account by clicking the link.
Step 3: Provide the required details in the application form.
Step 4: Upload the required documents accept the declaration and submit the online application form.
Step 5: Proceed to payment option and pay Rs. 3360 (Rs. 3000 +12% GST) for Indian applicants and and Rs. 5040 (Rs. 4500 + 12% GST) for NRI, PIO, CIO and Foreign Nationals.

Step 6: On scrutiny, verification and acceptance of application form, Admit card will be generated and sent to candidates registered email ID. Candidates can also download the Admit Card by login to his/ her profile on DAT portal.


  • Applications are invited through online mode only
  • The Design Aptitude Test (DAT) is conducted jointly by MIT Institute of Design MITID Pune and Avantika University Ujjain.

Stage 2: Design Aptitude Test (DAT)

  • Design Aptitude Test (DAT) will be conducted on 1st April 2018 between 10 AM to 1 PM at various test centres across India. (Ahmedabad, Bengaluru, Bhopal, Indore, Chandigarh, Chennai, Delhi, Goa, Hyderabad, Jaipur, Kolkata, Lucknow, Mumbai, Nagpur, Pune)
  • The DAT committee reserves its right to change or cancel any of these centres.
  • Based on scores obtained from DAT, shortlisted candidates will be called for studio test and personal interview.
  • MITID and Avantika University will have their separate merit list of shortlisted candidates.

Stage 3: Studio Test and Interview

  • The studio tests followed by personal interviews will be conducted separately by MITID at Pune campus and Avantika University at Ujjain campus.
  • The list of shortlisted candidates for the Studio test and Personal Interview will be announced on the respective websites of MITID and Avantika University.
  • All those candidates called for the studio test and personal interview are required to attend the studio tests and interview, which completes the process of selection.
  • The Admission Committee decides the procedures, grades and weightage every year. The norms for the selection are the sole prerogative of the Admission Committee and the decision of the Admission Committee and the Management in any of the matters concerning the admission process and selection will be final. Any direct or indirect attempt to influence the admission committee or its members, academic office bearers or management will lead to the automatic disqualification of the candidate(s).


  • The applicants will have to select their choice of specialization at the time of application.
  • The foundation program is standard for all disciplines irrespective of the specialization.

The Design Factory at Avantika University, Ujjain will mark the network’s first center in India, and thereby South Asia. Research students will have opportunities to conduct interdisciplinary research experiments with industry partners and experts from across the globe. Cambridge University Press India enables educational and instructional study material to learners from across India and South Asia. Headquartered in New Delhi, Cambridge University Press India focuses on the development of the English language content that directly impacts the skill-based industry, research-based publishing, and learning solutions. It publishes, in both print and digital media, with original titles in three core study areas, including academic, education (school) and ELT (English Language Teaching). Avantika University has joined hands with Cambridge University Press India to provide educational resources and development programs that will empower students and teachers at Avantika University with a better learning experience. Avantika Scholarship

Avantika University offers various scholarships, tuition fee waiver schemes, teaching and research assistance to meritorious, needy, and deserving students. This is an effort to make contemporary education affordable and reachable, and encourage academic excellence. The scholarships are instituted to recognize excellence in academics and sports, and support students from economically weaker sections. The quantum of scholarship and the number of scholarships are subject to revision and amendments from time to time. The changes shall be updated accordingly, and will be available on our website.


This is a merit-based scholarship applicable to students who have secured top three positions in 12th standard in their respective boards (CBSE/ ISC/ State Boards) and students who have taken JEE (Mains). The scholarships are awarded depending upon the score secured in the examination.

This is a merit-cum-means scholarship applicable to students who have secured minimum 90% marks (PCM) or 80% marks (Arts/ Commerce) in 12th standard in the respective boards (CBSE/ ISC/ State Boards) with an 80% score in Avantika Scholastic Test (AST)/ Design Aptitude Test (DAT). The quantum of scholarship shall be determined based on annual income of parents.

This is a sports scholarship applicable to students who have participated and won medal/s at national and international level.

This is a teaching assistance scheme applicable to students who have demonstrated excellent academic performance and are desirous of contributing to the university. The student is expected to contribute a specific number of hours per week and per month in assisting teaching and development activities of the university.

This is a performance-based scholarship applicable to students who have demonstrated extraordinary performance during the academic year. This scholarship will be awarded based on the overall performance of students in various activities along with academic excellence.

This scholarship is applicable to the students belonging to SC/ ST/ OBC category. The scholarship is administered by the Government of Madhya Pradesh based on annual income of the family. Students with family income below Rs. 3,00,000/- are eligible to apply.


  • The scholarship application form should be submitted by the applicant to the University office after getting admission.
  • The eligible candidates desirous of scholarship are required to fill the scholarship form during the admission process.
  • The norms for selection will be the sole prerogative of Avantika Admission Committee.
  • The scholarship amount will be calculated only on tuition fees and is applicable for 1st year only.
  • The students fulfilling more than one eligibility criteria will be considered only as per higher preference mentioned in the scheme and will be eligible for only one type of scholarship in a year.


  • The continuation of all scholarships is dependent on consistently high academic performance. The students are expected to meet pre-defined academic standards for continuation of scholarship.
  • The scholarship can be renewed based on the performance in the university examination, attendance, and character and conduct certified by the Dean.
  • The renewal of sports scholarship depends on the performance in sports after admission in university.
  • The scholarship shall stand discontinued, if the student is found guilty of any misconduct or indiscipline.

Objective: To assist students develop critical way of thinking and analyse the application of the basics of the performing art to the day to day working of a man.

The entire course has been divided into four parts evenly spread over the four days which would enable the instructors to introduce to the students certain different aspects of dance and at the same time experiment with it.


  • The evolution of dance in Bollywood (from the use of Indian classical dance forms to contemporary forms of dance)
  • Learning about the basic contemporary dance forms and how it derives its basics from daily human activities.
  • Application of these forms in expressing various interpretations of inanimate objects


  • To introduce vivid folk dances of India to the students and the main objective behind such dance forms.
  • To assist the students in developing team spirit and a mechanism of working in group.
  • To encourage students to be a part of a community and work towards achieving common goals.


  • To introduce dance as a fitness regime to the students to attain physical, mental and emotional fitness.
  • To introduce students to the ancillary fields to dance and help them experiment with various colours and props to create a small performance


  • To introduce students to the classical dance forms of India and the discipline behind it.
  • To assist students to work with the skill of expression and prepare them to experiment in front of an audience.
